I have always thought that some movies get a bad wrap or are judged unfairly. While I consider this to be obvious, perhaps it bares repeating.

ROME (AP) - Jonathan Rhys Meyers says audiences should throw away their "adult glasses" when seeing his new film, "August Rush."

The movie, which co-stars Robin Williams, Keri Russell and Freddie Highmore, tells the story of a talented young musician who is looking for his birth parents. The boy, who has an eccentric companion, performs on the streets of New York.

"To really get the most out of the film, you have to start seeing through the eyes of a boy. You have to throw away your adult glasses," Rhys Meyers said in an interview with The Associated Press. "How a 45-year-old man and a 10-year-old boy see New York are completely different things."

Rhys Meyers plays the child's father. His character doesn't know of his son's existence.
 
The 30-year-old actor said he wanted to portray Louis Connelly as compassionate. "He is not a guitar genius," he said, "but the true gift of his music passes on to his son."

Rhys Meyers, whose credits include Showtime's miniseries "The Tudors" and Woody Allen's "Match Point," attended the premiere of "August Rush" at the Rome Film Festival on Saturday.

"August Rush" is set for release in U.S. theaters by Warner Bros. Pictures on Nov. 21.

Yes, sometimes I find it difficult to see a movie from the point-of-view or in the spirit intended. For me, I usually chalk this down to my life experience.

Now, I want to offer my own advice. The same advice I have given you many times. Please, watch movies with an open heart and open mind.

Okay, I admit it, this too can be difficult at times. We all have things we just can't wrap our minds around. Hey, none of us are purfect but we can strive for it.
